Arrive at Mae Fah Luang-Chiang Rai International Airport meet our local guide and transfer to hotel for registration and room arrangement. Time for a quick refreshment and continued to visit the Doi Tung Royal Villa which was the private residence of the Princess Mother (mother of the present King Rama IX, and much beloved by the people). Drive to the northern area of Thailand known as the Golden Triangle, a territory that extends over the borders of Burma, Laos and Thailand. This area has become famous for being one of the major production areas of opium poppy. Visit the border town of Mae Sai where there are numerous typical products coming from neighboring Burma, but also from China along the Burma Road. Lunch at local restaurant overlooking the Mekong River and in the afternoon visit the Opium Museum located near the village of Ban Sop Ruak where you can see the techniques of cultivation of opium poppy and a collection of pipes used for its consumption, as well as brands and labels of refined opium when its distribution still was legal. Visit the town of Chiang Sean and Wat Chedi Luang - built in 1331 and extensively amended in 1515, its stupa is 58 meters high. After visits transfer to hotel in Chiang Rai. Breakfast and departure to the chinese ethnic village of Mae Salong, became famous in 1961 for being the refuge of 4,000 Kuomintang exiles Chinese who did not surrender to communist troops and refused to withdraw to Taiwan. The Thai government granted political asylum in exchange for military aid in control the borders against possible communist infiltration in Thailand. Today, many of inhabitants of Mae Salong are direct descendants of those fighters and the main spoken language is Chinese Mandarin. It 's also become a popular tourist destination thanks to the cool climate and beautiful mountain landscapes that recall an alpine resort, the village is in fact located 1800 m. s.l.m.
On the surrounding hills there are many tea plantations and in the downtown there are famous tea rooms in Chinese style. In town there is also the Martyrs' Memorial - a mausoleum dedicated to the fall of the Kuomintang and a chedi dedicated to the Princess Mother Boromathat Phra Chedi. Visit tea and coffee plantation with the opportunity to taste the different types of mixtures. Breakfast in hotel and visit Wat Rong Khun temple, also known as the "White Temple" - built in 1997 by renowned Thai artist Chalermchai Kositpipat.
